Please elaborate on the type(s) of agricultural operation you plan on running:
My daughters and I would like to start a small sheep and market farm operation to co-exist with our current horse business (lessons, training, breeding, and plans for potential boarding). Essentially, we are planning to use sustainable techniques such as rotational grazing, and natural methods as much as possible for responsible stewardship of the land, and healthy and happy animals and people. We'd like to sell our products at local farmers markets as well as food co-ops and online, as well as eventually start a CSA. We would like to create and promote food stability and resiliency for ourselves and our community in these very uncertain times.
We are open to small as well as large land opportunities, and will need housing for 3 people, as well as our dogs, cats, and horses. Hoping to buy something but are also open to lease or rent for the first 1-5 years. Our current home in New Mexico is currently on the market and showing, so we will hopefully be moving soon!

Tell us more about your agricultural experiences:
- I grew up on my family’s Idaho sheep ranch and farm, as well as a cattle ranch in Montana. I’ve spent the last 18 yrs as a veterinary technician, and now I’m trying to transition (back) to farming/ranching.
I sold my produce grown at home at a farmers market one season. It was great, and I’ve decided I’d really like to do that again on a larger income-producing scale.
My kids have been active in 4-H with various projects including market lamb, poultry, and more. I also have obtained my Permaculture Design Certification and am excited to use that knowledge in our farm.
My 20 year old daughter, Alayna, and I (with the help of my 12 year old daughter too!) would like to start a small sheep and market farm operation to co-exist with our current horse business (lessons, training, breeding, and plans for potential boarding). Alayna has 2+ years’ barn management experience.
We are hoping to move back to our home state of Idaho soon to be closer to family and friends.
How many acres are you currently farming/ranching? 10
Please briefly describe what you grow or raise currently: Currently raising horses, and my daughter teaches beginning riding lessons and starts horses for jumping.
