Please elaborate on the type(s) of agricultural operation you plan on running:
My farming goal is to sustainably growing cut flowers for markets and weekly subscriptions. I want to be a part of the slow flower movement sweeping across our country. I want to market bouquets to local florists and wedding designers as well as the person that wants fresh flowers in their home. I plan on growing the vey best varieties known for their scent, stem length and long vase life. Including, Amaranth, Belles of Ireland, Black eyed Susans, Poppies, Cosmos, Foxglove, Orach, Sunflowers, Ranunculas, Seweetpeas, Zinnias and many varieties of Dahlias. Many of these flowers are hard to come by in this area due to the fact they do not ship well. My hope is to offer fresh, locally grown, beautiful flowers that will out last those shipped in from mass producing farms. I plan on growing these flowers sustainably and organically. I believe we live in a great area that offers rich soil for growing and by adding organic compost, fertilizer and cover crop. Green house and low hoops
